Suzanne Tiemstra

Suzanne Tiemstra earned a B. Mus. at Westminster Choir College (Princeton, NJ) an a M.Mus. at Temple University (Philadelphia, PA), both in Organ Performance. She has directed church music programs and taught in colleges in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Michigan.

She is the founder and Director of Grand Rapids Cantata Choir, an auditioned adult choir dedicated to performing music, especially masterworks, that is rarely performed.

Author of "The Choral Music of Latin America: a Guide to Research and Compositions" (Greenwood Press, 1992), the only book on this topic, she is one of the world's foremost experts in the field. She continues to keep the only comprehensive catalogue of this music, covering all Hispanic nations, from 1550 to the present.
