Thatcher Lyman is a fifth year organ and mathematics double degree student at Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH. While there he has studied under Haskell Thomson and currently under James David Christie. An early music enthusiast, Mr. Lyman is also a founding member of the five-voice ensemble Uncloistered, which has performed concerts in Cleveland, Boston, Iowa City and Oberlin. When not involved in musical activities, Thatcher can be found reading, cycling or attempting to prove obscure mathematical formulae. Upon completion of his degree at Oberlin in May, Mr. Lyman hopes to continue his organ studies in a masters program. Thatcher Lyman was the first place winner in the 2005 Region V AGO/Quimby Young Organists Competition.
